Mango Mango Mango

We have a new Mango Tree which we have decided to plant down the western fenceline where it will be a little more protected than the last unfortunate fellow. The soil is fairly clayey there so we have dug out a good meter round, meter deep hole and filled it with fresh loamy soil and some compost. The tree was already four foot high when we bought it so already it has a good start. We have planted comfrey next to it which is good at breaking up clay soils and bringing up deep nutrients. It may need some wind strength assistance but we will wait for the annual Westerlies to blow in and see how it fares first.

Mango Tree: Another heatwave casualty

Well our poor mango tree has gone to the great vege garden in the sky. Faithful watering and sheltering could not hold off the damage caused by the extreme temperatures baking us over the last few weeks. Many of our trees and gardens are suffering and fingers crossed we won't have to say goodbye to too many more trees before this is over.

Mango Tree: One Year

Mangoes.... need I say more... We weren't sure of the sensibility of planting this one out on its own in the middle of the field but it has flourished. Thanks to Amy's constant and dedicated watering I'm sure but there he sits... contented.
