Pineapple Volunteer

Well you know your garden is blessed when food plants you haven't even gotten around to considering yet suddenly appear and thrive in your gardens. Here is a pineapple that (magically) appeared in one of our ornamental gardens and has been growing strong ever since.

It looks ready to harvest so we are madly researching how and when to do so and whether the bush will provide more or is a oneshot.

Eggplants are Lovin It!

We have been trialling Eggplants in the vege garden and have had far more luck than expected. There are now 3 healthy eggplant bushes producing their bounty for our enjoyment.

Banana Tree In Flower

Our Banana Tree has been enjoying our new tropical climate and has not only grown an entirely new tree (shoot) it is flowering and preparing to provide its first harvest of fruit. We planted Mint around the base of the original banana tree as a companion plant and it has not only overrun the grass around the base of the tree it also gives off a lovely aroma when we visit our Musa friend.

The large brown collection of leaves is the banana heart which has numerous hands (which become the fruit). We will post more images as they mature and become ready to harvest and feast upon.

Wet Loving Agave

Our long suffering Agave has been loving the near tropical wet weather we have been experiencing so far this year with the first flower we have seen on it since we planted it 5 years ago. It appears very happy to be here too.
